Autumn Banville
Veterinary Assistant
Hi, my name is Autumn Banville, and I am a Veterinary Assistant and Student Veterinary Technician at Lakewood Veterinary Hospital.
My passion for animal care led me to pursue Veterinary Technology, and I'm excited to be graduating in Spring 2027. Through my experience working in both emergency veterinary medicine and general practice clinics, I have developed a strong appreciation for the unique needs of every patient and the importance of providing compassionate, high-quality care in all situations.
Personal Hobbies and Interests
I love the outdoors, camping, kayaking, canoeing, reading and summer fun.
At home, I'm kept busy by my three lovely cats and one high energy black lab, who remind me every day why I love working with animals. Being both a veterinary professional in training and a devoted pet owner gives me a deep appreciation for the special bond between pets and their families. I am passionate about continuing to grow my knowledge and skills so I can provide the highest quality care and support for both my patients and their people.
Favorite Part of My Job
I have a special interest in fear-free veterinary medicine and strive to create a calm, positive experience for every patient that walks through our doors. Whether it's helping a nervous pet feel more comfortable, supporting clients through challenging situations, or advocating for the best possible care, I am dedicated to treating each animal with patience, kindness, and respect.
My favourite part of my job is giving my patients a fear-free visit and helping their owners be at ease.
I really enjoy running lab work such as blood work and urinalysis.
Why I Chose This Profession
My love for animals big and small.
Education
I am currently attending Red River College for Veterinary Technology, with an expected graduation date in the spring of 2027.
Work History
I volunteered at a number of mixed practices before getting into the vet tech program, and then got a job at a small family owned clinic in Winnipeg. I then moved on to working at Bridgwater Emergency as a veterinary assistant.
